AWATEA Conference Reminder

The Aotearoa Wave And Tidal Energy Association has asked us to let our network know that time is running out for their conference. Please see their message below:

Time is running out if you are planning to register for the AWATEA conference and want to get a personalized conference pack. We will be going to print name labels – for the conference packs and personal badges – on Wednesday evening, so if you haven¹t registered yet, get your registration form in as soon as possible.

You can still register after that date right up until the day of the conference but you will get a hand-written name badge and will not be listed as an attendee in the conference pack.

There have been a few minor changes to the conference programme, the key ones being that the conference will start at 08:45 (with tea and coffee available before) and the Minister of Energy and Resources, Hon. Gerry Brownlee, will speak at 09:00.

Lunch is being sponsored by Transpower and Garrad Hassan Pacific has agreed to sponsor drinks at the end of the day.

Our full range of sponsors is:

Foundation sponsors: Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA), Meridian Energy Limited and Power Projects Limited
Silver sponsor: UK Trade and Investment
Drinks sponsor: Garrad Hassan Pacific Limited
Lunch sponsor: Transpower Limited

The programme is well-rounded and we have carried on two traditions:
1. Having at least one overseas keynote speaker – in this case, Neil Kermode of the European Marine Energy Centre and
2. Having at least one overseas device developer as a speaker. In this case we have two – Voith Hydro, developer of a submarine tidal turbine and Wavegen, developer of the world¹s first grid-connected wave energy converter.

We have registrants coming from the UK, Germany, Korea and Australia but – at present – no-one from Hamilton (may be too far from the sea). But it’s not too late – register now!

We looking forward to seeing you there.
