2008 Energy Postgraduate Conference

The Centre for Energy Research at Massey University (MUCER) hosted the 2008 Energy Postgraduate Conference in Wellington, at the Massey University Campus, on June 3-5 2008.

Now in its fifth year, this annual conference provided a forum for the higher degree research students in the broader energy-environment area to present their work (to date) to their peers, supervising staff, and attendees from government and industry.

For the second consecutive year the annual Conference was organised with support from the National Energy Research Institute (NERI) and was open for attendance by postgraduate students from the NERI partner universities.

This year’s conference was organised in conjunction with the 2008 UNEP World Environment Day celebrations in Wellington, and featured a public forum on “Energy technology solutions to meet the 2 °C target – or is it too late?” facilitated by Prof. Ralph Sims. Prof. Ralph Sims is the Director of MUCER and Coordinating Lead Author (Energy Supply) of the IPCC 4th Assessment Review – Working Group III (Mitigation), he is currently seconded to the International Energy Agency in Paris. The forum was held on the evening of June 5th in Wellington, as part of the 2008 World Environment Day activities.
